This is a resource for drummers of all abilities, for drums teachers and learners.
I've changed my mind about this bit. I started off before with a comparison of learning online and learning with a teacher. I presented live teaching as more useful, because I've trained as a teacher and saw it as the best way. But after much thought I realised that most of my own learning was acquired through work I did alone after picking up information in tutor books, or drums magazines or, in recent years, online. My favourite Rudiment came from a single phrase I read in a Carl Palmer interview years ago, when he mentioned triplet paradiddles. I'd never heard of such a thing so I just went away and figured out what he meant. No teacher anywhere in sight.
A while ago I wanted to learn the part to 50 Ways to Leave your Lover. I got the gist of it from the record and hashed up a version that was a bit over aggressive. Then found a video on Drumeo that was absolutely superb and gave me everything I needed.
After that I changed my mind. A one to one teacher is fantastic if you can afford it but many of us manage pretty well using our eyes, ears and initiative. Online learning is fine if you work at it, and most of it is absolutely free.
So I apologise to the Drumeo guys and other online practitioners for my smarty-pants one-upmanship. Parents and pupils out there get your learning any way you can. Just be prepared to work hard if you want to succeed. And never be afraid to ask questions.
In this website I aim to provide as much free content as I am able. I have no sponsorships (yet) so my opinions are completely my own. I hope I come up with something of value to you.
